Father Looks for Son's "Green Thumb"
A man put in a garden in his yard in anticipation of watching everything bloom in the near future. The time came in the season for the seed to begin sprouting. There was nothing. So the man checks a few days later, still nothing. So he does this a couple more times and still nothing. There was something very wrong that separated the work the man put into the garden from the fruit that should of come. The man called his son, who was an expert gardener, to determine the cause of the infertility of the garden. The phone lines were down or something so he had to wait another day to talk to his son. The next day he talks to his son and explains the problem with the garden, and the son promises to be there as soon as possible. On the way to his father’s house the road was shut down due to a mud slide. He wasn’t able to arrive to his father’s house to provide a solution to reestablish fertility of the garden. His father waits patiently to reunite with his son to bring fruitfulness to the garden.
God the Father is looking for His Son in us to reestablish fertility within the garden of our soul. When there are no blossoms of the Spirit in our life, God the Holy Spirit calls His Son Jesus to bring a solution to the infertile condition of the soul. Sin separates the Father from the Son. The Holy Spirit attempts to convince us to put away the thorns, thistles, rocks, and poisons that keep the Son separated from the Father. Sin is anything that prohibits God’s love from working through us to restore fellowship with His Spirit. Christ shed His blood on the Cross to restore fellowship with the Spirit of God. When God sees that Christ has arrived in the garden of our soul then the Spirit of His joy can be felt in us as He embraces His Son.
Satan wants to steal God’s Son from the garden of our soul to perpetuate the hurtful consequences of our sinful nature. Satan wants to destroy the garden of our soul to ensure that we would never have the desire to accept the Message of the Cross. Satan wants to murder us spiritually so that God the Father would never be able to rejoice in the reunion of His Son Jesus. At the Cross, Christ defeated Satan where thieves, murderers, and anarchists will never be able to separate God from His Son who brings fertility to the garden of our soul. “For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
“And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
